Ash
Note: I’m planning to write daily throughout Lent this year, much as I did in Advent. I need these to be lightweight liturgies: micro-works that help me unlock something. To do that, I’m going to try to keep things simple. A quick thought or quotation, a song or viewing or reading that hopefully helps to crack things open, and a quick tool for reflection, meditation, or prayer.
"Remember that you are dust.”
Music and art serve as conduits for contemplation and insight, weaving the abstract into tangible form. "Dear Wormwood," by The Oh Hellos, embodies the journey of confronting and releasing the shadows within us.
Burn what you don’t need, and let the ashes of that stain and color your creative work in the world.
