Sometimes getting the fire started is the hardest part.
Tomorrow — March 7, 2023 — I release a self-published book called Controlled Burn. It’s a bit of metaphor, memoir, and practice, all centered around the idea of creating Bonfire Experiences in our lives.
It wasn’t that long ago that I was burning in bad ways. There I was. Life on fire. All parts. Things I’ve built are burning like crazy. Relationships torched. Burned out on work. Burned out on stuff I used to love. Fried. It does matter how I got there, don’t get me wrong. For now, though, let’s conjure an image of a person and the spaces they belong to, for good reasons and bad ones, collapsed from burning too hot for too long. Some of you have been there.
Whether we call it burnout or trauma, crisis or catastrophe, my argument is that we can take the bad burning and make it good burning. Bad burns = bad. Good burns = Controlled Burning. You get it.
This here space is meant to extend and deepen the work of Controlled Burning for all who want to burn with me. My hope is that it develops into a community that can work together in burning — in good ways.
My aim is to help us clear the space around us so that we can build a killer Bonfire together. I’ll post some fire-starting resources for free, with more extended resources, writing, and embodied practices for paid subscribers. We’re going to see how it goes in terms of frequency, but I’m a person almost constantly burning with something. You can look forward to a couple great posts of each type per month for now.
As with all Bonfire Experiences, the party really gets going when everyone shows up and brings what they have to the table. I so hope you’ll join me in creating this next great party. Subscribe below and support the work as you’re able.
