Peace
I missed Peace. Fitting.
Like literally, though. Peace was the word I was supposed to talk about sometime last week and I missed it.
We’re missing a lot of Peace these days.
Here’s a little dose to catch you up.
For me, listening to these two songs is like getting a peace-themed lullaby for grown-ups. Let's make this Advent about hunting down those peace moments like they're hidden retreats in time and space. They are spacious. And I need that space now and again in this season.
Meditation
Create a quiet, tranquil environment for your meditation, perhaps by playing 'O Magnum Mysterium' or 'The Lake Isle' softly. As you close your eyes and take deep, measured breaths, let your mind and spirit be enveloped by the music. Reflect on the essence of peace as conveyed through these songs – a peace that transcends understanding, that calms the soul, and that connects us with something greater than ourselves.
Contemplate how peace manifests in your life. Think about moments when you've felt a deep sense of serenity, harmony, or connection – whether in nature, in prayer, in music, or in moments of quiet solitude. Consider how these experiences have shaped your understanding of peace and how you might cultivate more of these peaceful moments in your daily life.
Examen
Recall a recent experience where you felt a profound sense of peace. What made this moment special, and how did it impact your state of mind and heart?
Reflect on the feelings evoked by 'O Magnum Mysterium' and 'The Lake Isle.' How do these pieces of music resonate with your personal experiences of peace?
Consider your daily life and routine. Identify moments or activities that bring you peace. How can you incorporate more of these peaceful elements into your Advent season?
Think about your surroundings and relationships. What changes can you make to foster a more peaceful environment and harmonious interactions with others?
