I stumbled upon a nugget of wisdom today in an app I use called FitMind (it comes recommended by me; I have no affiliation):
Wanting what you have and where you are is easier than constantly striving for what you desire.
Kinda feels like a pause in Sisyphus' uphill journey, doesn't it?
I’ve been writing a lot about pauses of a kind — transitions, discontent, discomfort. They can be icky. They can be depressing. Heck, they can be depression.
Here’s what we know: life’s frantic pace often has us chasing the horizon. But the real magic lies in embracing what’s happening here and now. It’s not about sidelining ambition (and, if you know me, you know I cannot do that), but cherishing the now while carving out the future.
Imagine aiming for a far-off finish line. You might think sprinting is the answer. But, sometimes, it's the stops along the way that allow us to plot the path forward, to manage our energy, and to evaluate whether what we’re after is what we’re supposed to be after. It's in these pauses, these breathers, that we find clarity, build momentum, and shape our next moves.
So, as we chase what’s next, let's also enjoy what's now. Because in these moments, not only does transformation occur, but our pathway to the future becomes clearer and more sure-footed. I needed this reminder today: it's often the stillness that propels us forward.
